i created this artwork in photoshop7 with a wacom. its just an addition to my folio. hope you guys like it. thanks.

It's not so much about color as it is value (lightness/darkness). Yes, choose color that harmonizes with the color scheme, but keep in mind that the more objects recede (the further back they are in your art) the lighter in value, and the less detail you see and the softer the edges and more muted the tones. It's called "atmospheric perspective" and is an illusion that replicates the depth we see in nature.
Conversely, the closer you want an object to appear, do the opposite (i.e.) the more intense and detailed the objects and the sharper the edges. There are exceptions to this rule, but for the most part they are good to start from.
